This section starts at the road on
a back stream this can be the place to be when the river is in flood
however it is liable to run fast when the drain is pump out this is
usually for a short time and conditions return to normal. On the main
river eel grass weed can be a problem in the summer but at this time of
year the fish can quite often be caught above the weed. Hemp and tares a
very good method of doing this and therefore the venue is predominantly
roach fishing venue normally slow with good depth in the margins they can
produce good bags in winter or summer. At times big bags of bream are
found other fish include chub, perch, zander, and pike. |
ROTA WATER SUNDAYS

Clubs may book this
water on the rota system. On the dates booked the water will be closed to
individual members and may only be used by members of the club to which it
is allocated.
Any member may use the water on the dates on which it is not
booked. At present the only dates booked are as follows:

ROUTE
-
From London
on the M11 or A10 then on Newmarket Road A45, and in three miles turn left
onto the A1102 Pen Ditton proceed to the village of Swaffham Prior and
turn left into road signposted Upware. Carry on for about 2 miles when the
road takes a sharp right-hand bend, immediately after the bend a broad
track will be seen on the left-hand side and a notice board ‘‘Lords
Ground Farm, Swaffham Prior’‘. Pass this and continue on to crossroads
turn left, stay on this road to Burwell Lode Bridge. |

This venue can also be reached by
A10 through Cambridge to Streatham roundabout. Turn right on A1123,
crossing the River Cam at Dimmocks Cote. Proceed to the next crossroads
and turn right to Upware Village. Through Upware to Burwell Lode Bridge. |

In Upware,
making sure not to obstruct or inconvenience local residents. |
ENTRANCE -
On the left before crossing the
bridge. |
BOUNDARIES
-
From
the road down the back stream to the main river. Then left from this point
to where a drain enters the river about half mile downstream. |

but may not fish and must be controlled completely by their
parents.
