These pits open

March 15th to June 16th

for fishing.

No fishing on the river

during this period.

While the river on this section is somewhat shallow for much of its length, it is ideal dace water.  The old mill tail can also be fished from the small open space adjoining the Foxearth Road.  Principally a roach and dace water also found are perch , chub and tench. The problem with the lake on this fishery is that it is very weeded in summer, which make's this very difficult, but it does contain good fish.
CAR PARK - Follow the track to the lakeside and park.
ROUTE - From London take M11 to Junction 8 then A120 to Braintree and the A131 through Braintree to Sudbury. Then B1064 towards Bury St Edmunds.   At the far end of Long Melford's main street turn left onto A1092 for two miles towards Cavendish. On passing Hobbs Lane the entrance to number 1 pit, continue along A1092 for 500 yards just past 'Cannon Rubber Company' factory turn left.  The gates are 120 yards on the left.
