RIVER STORT -SPELLBROOK.

Near Harlow this part of the Stort provides canal style fishing from natural banks roach, dace, chub and bream are the main species found on this venue.
ROUTE - From London take the M11 at junction 7 follow the A414 to roundabout junction with A1184, then follow this road to Bishops Stortford (Spellbrook). Then turn right on a minor road (Spellbrook Lane East) to Hailybury until you cross the Stort.
PARKING -  In the lay-by on the right just past the forge. Or by permission, outside the ‘Three Horseshoes’ . Do not block any entrances.
BOUNDARY -  From the road bridge down to iron bridge (towpath) and the east bank of silk-stream to spinney. ENTRANCE - Pass Spellbrook Lock , over river bridge, turn right and down the towpath.
BRIDGE MEADOW - Backwater from the road round to a small overshoot, stream of Spellbrook Lock the grounds of which are private. Also the BACKWATER, rear of this meadow. It is an offence to trespass across the railway lines.
ENTRANCE - Gate to meadow on the left of the main road situated about 50 yards before Spellbrook Lock.
N.B. No vehicles to be taken on to the grass meadows adjacent to this fishery and it is an offence for them to be found thereon. On the silk-stream members must keep to the bank and not cross any meadows.

Anyone above the age of 5 years may join.  Children below that age may be taken,
but may not fish and must be controlled completely by their parents.
Children below the age of 11 years MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT
and the application form must be countersigned by a parent/guardian.
