| This fishery at Hertford is on the original course of the river. This a narrow winding and recently dredged giving good depth. Sport to be found with chub, dace, which are well above average size also roach perch, bream plus a few very good barbel. The fishery has reasonably good access to most swims being in the main sports fields on which a number of football pitches are placed. | |
| ROUTE - From London take the A10T turning into Hertford. Follow the signs to Hertford East Station (Tesco Superstore), then down Mill Road and on to a footpath for Dicker Mill (upper portion). Turn left for town stretch and right for the open meadow with the junction of the River Beane on the point.. For Kings Mead proceed along the Lea Navigation to the first bridge, cross over and down a short lane (Marshgate Drive) to a gate of a large open meadow and footpath leading to Bengeo and the fishery. Or continue along the towpath to Hertford Lock and then over the Lea Navigation and through gate to open meadow and Ware Park Mill Point is away on the right. | |

Upper Portion.
From Folly Sluices, Hertford, down to the confluence of the River Beane. Lower Portion. From below Dicker Mill Pool, down to Ware Park Mill Point conjunction with the Lea Navigation. |

PARKING -
Turn right along Mead Lane then turn left into Marshgate Drive over bridge at the end of the car park (Kings Mead Lower Portion). For upper Portion park so as not to cause obstruction in Mill Lane. |
