FISHERMAN'S BROOK - ALDERMASTON.

MEMBERS ONLY

This fishery was a fair sized stream running in and out of the ‘River Kennet’ much better in years past when it was acquired by the association. Since then changes in the watercourse and water controls along with abstraction have turned this into little more than a trickle compared to its former glory. It is now only suitable for the individual angler prepared to stalk the banks spending as much time perhaps wandering the banks and observing wildlife and the habits of the fish that can be easily seen.

The only tackle should be a pair of Polaroid's, a Rod, Landing Net and Pocket full of Bait.

Very wild and overgrown most of the fish caught will be of a good average size for the species but the only fish likely to reach specimen size on this water is the dace they are well above the average. Other species include chub, roach, and gudgeon.

If you happen to be close by it is worth spending perhaps one or two hours.

ENTRANCE -
Fisherman's Lane this is a narrow gravel lane off the Newbury Road in Aldermaston turn left down the side of the post office. Proceed down this to just beyond gate across the lane turning right or left at the bridge across the fishery.
ROUTE - From London take the M4 to junction 12 onto A4 towards Newbury, turn left on A340 to Aldermaston.
PARKING - Just before the gate across Fisherman's Lane on the right hand side do not obstruct access to any gates. They are in constant use by farm vehicles.
BOUNDARY - From Aldermaston to Padworth. Being narrow, this is only suitable for individual members only. The fishery is prone to low levels in summer.
