RIVER GREAT OUSE. |
MEMBERS ONLY |
| Portholme Meadow our fishery on the River Ouse very often gets completely flooded during the winter months and becomes one huge lake. That is when this fishery comes into its own a small river running into the main Ouse it consists of two courses forming a complete island fishery. In normal conditions the lower of the two rivers is usually flowing fastest but as the river floods the weirs are operated and the lower river slows down and the top river starts to flow hardest. This means that it stays fishable for far longer and it is only in the worst of floods that the venue becomes completely un fishable. With possibly roach being more predominant than on the main river their are also plenty of chub, dace, a few bream and pike with the odd large carp. |
